Y5

English homework will be handed out on a Friday to be handed in by the following Wednesday. English homework is a combination of a project and grammar tasks. This is to enhance and challenge the in class learning from that week.

Maths homework is handed out Friday with the deadline for return the following Wednesday. Maths homework is always based upon current maths topics in class and misconceptions are reviewed during a Friday's lesson.

Spellings for all children will be given out on a Monday. Children will bring these home to practise over the week, ready for a test on the Friday.

Reading to an adult at home is encouraged at least 3 times a week. These are reviewed every Monday and should be placed in the sparkly box, in their classroom. Your child will be awarded a "Dojo" point for every time they have read to an adult at home. The Dojo Reading Champions will be displayed in the Year 5 area every week.

Pupils' commitment to completing homework will be recorded on their termly "Pupil Attitude Tracker". (The first PAT will be available to parents at the first parents consultation meeting.)

If you have any queries regards the homework set for your child, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Year 5 Team, who will be happy to help and advise.
